Parent Support Program

The Parent Support Program offers supportive and educational programs to parents who have children of all ages.  Support groups and parenting classes are available to meet a variety of parenting needs.  Individual parenting instruction is also provided.  Free childcare is provided during all programs.

Below are the parenting programs that are currently offered:


Single Parent Support Group

A support group specifically for single parents which provides education and a supportive environment for parents and their children.  Free childcare on site.  Meeting times and location are below:

  • When? Every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 6-8 p.m.
  • Where? Child and Youth Services Central Registration bldg., 1900 Reece Rd., Fort Meade
  • Why?  To decrease isolation and get to know other single parents while gaining support.

Free Childcare is provided.

Parenting With A Purpose

A class for parents who have children of all ages in which parents will learn nurturing parenting skills to enrich the relationship with their children and learn nonphysical discipline techniques that work and encourage cooperation in their children.  Meeting times and location are below:

  • Initial meeting: October 26, 2011 from 1-3 p.m.  at Meuse Forest Neighborhood Center, 8700 91st Division Blvd., Fort Meade.
  • When?  Every Wednesday for six weeks.
  • Time: noon - 2:00 pm.
  • Where? Child and Youth Services Central Registration bldg., 1900 Reece Rd., Fort Meade
  • Why? To learn new parenting skills to enrich the relationship with your children. For parents who have children of all ages.
Pre-registration is required. Free childcare available

Romp ‘n’ Stomp Playgroup

A parent-child playgroup which offers socialization and play opportunities for parents and children.  Parents who have children between the ages of infancy and 5 years of age can attend this playgroup.  There is plenty of toys and play equipment provided for your enjoyment.  So join in on the fun and bring your children!  Meeting times and location are below:

  • When?  Every Tuesday from 9:30 am- 11:30 am.
  • Where? Child and Youth Services gymnasium
  • Who? Parents and their children between the ages of infancy and five years
  • Why?  So parents can meet and support one another while their children meet new friends and play together

Mom Support Group

For moms of children ages 0-3 to meet and discuss the challenges and rewards of raising young children.

  • When? Every Thursday from 9-10 a.m.
  • Where?Potomac Place

 

Dads 101

Parenting group for expectant dads and dads with children of all ages. Learn parenting skills and the importance of your role in your role in your child's life.

  • When? Every Wednesday 9-10 a.m.
  • Where? Army Community Services in the Family Advocacy Program office at 830 Chisholm Ave Ft Meade.


Effective Communication for Parents

Group for couples with children of all ages. Learn co-parenting skills and effective techniques for improving your relationship while raising children.

  • When? 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from 1:00 - 3:00 pm
  • Where? Army Community Services in the Family Advocacy Program Office at 830 Chisholm Ave Ft Meade.


Empowering Parents of Teens

Group for parents of teenagers and pre adolescents. Develop abilities for remaining in control as your children work towards independence.

  • When? 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Where? Child and Youth Services Central Registration bldg., 1900 Reece Rd., Fort Meade.
Free childcare available

 

Returning from Deployment Parenting Group

A group for servicemembers and their families who are expected to return or have recently returned from deployment. Gain support and skills for reintegrating and transitioning back to family life.

  • When? Every Tuesday from 2-3 p.m.
  • Where? McGill Training Center
