EFMP Respite Care Offers Families some valuable rest
The Army Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) respite care is an EFMP community support service that provides a temporary rest period for Family Members responsible for the regular care of persons with disabilities. Care may be provided in the EFMP respite care user’s home or other settings such as special needs camps and enrichment programs. It is time limited and based on the exceptional Family member’s (EFM’s) condition and availability of funding. An eligible EFM may qualify for up to 40 hours per month.
The following criteria must be met to be eligible for the Army EFMP Respite Care Program:
1) Active Duty or AGR
2) Army or Marine
3) EFM must have a severe chronic medical condition and significant medical needs. The process for getting approved for the Army EFMP Respite Care Program includes paperwork, an EFMP Respite Care Panel meeting, and ultimate approval by the Garrison Commander. To determine if you qualify for the Army EFMP Respite Care Program at Ft. Meade, please contact the Ft. Meade Army ACS EFMP office.
