Daily Activities
Anyday at the Teen Center is a fun day because of the constant on-going activities and great input from teens and staf for new suggesstions on what everyone would like to take place here. On a regular day you can play the latest games on the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 or Sony Playstation 3. Because we know you have the same games and systems at home, we try to make sure that we offer a wide variety of games you may not even think to play and to make sure that everyone can get some kind of enjoyment out of our gaming systems. On some days, we'll even take it back retro-style and pull out the Nintendo 64 and gather around for an intense game of Mario Kart or Bond 007: Golden Eye. Even though we know you may play them at home, we do not allow Mature rated games here and this rule is strictly enforced although after 6:00 p.m. we do allow teens to play Halo. This is the only Mature rated game we allow because the absence of gore and vulgar language.
Besides gaming, we have a Youth Technology Lab where students can come and take care of any project or homework that they may have to work on. In the Youth Technology Lab we have two staff members, one designated for homework for school assistance and the other is a technology specialist here to assist you with your technical needs. The Youth Technology Lab is where several Clubs meet throughout the week like the Book Club, Creative Arts Club, Science Club and Tech Club. Often times other special meetings are held here such as HIRED!
Not only are we conduct indoor activities, we also conduct outdoor activities as well. Some examples of our outdoor activities include competitive flag football, games of pickup basketball, SPARQ Training and home run derbys. During the warmer weather we have a mobile skatepark avavilable for all those interested in skating.
