Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program. Keystone Clubs are chartered leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 14-18. Keystoners elect officers and implement activities in these areas: service to Club and community, character and leadership development, education and career exploration, unity, free enterprise and social recreation. Awards are bestowed annually on Keystone Clubs that implement programs and activities that best promote the core Keystoning principles. The combined action of hundreds of local Keystone Clubs results in a service project with a national scope. Taco Bell Foundation sponsors the national Keystone Club program as part of the multi-year teen initiative, a strategic partnership between the foundation and BGCA that equips Clubs with the tools and resources to create a positive place for teens as well as for kids.
Our Keystone members have been a great service to the Fort Meade community. Facilitated by Matthew Wise, the Fort Meade Teen Center's Keystone club has coordinated many activities such as fundraising through car washes, hosting our monthly Club Midnight dances, and through other means. The Keystone Club has also programmed Dark Days where no electronics are able to be used in means to encourage teens to go green and be conscious of their environment. Keystone members are actively involved in the day to day operations which are required to help the Teen Center remain a success for others teens. Keystone meetings are held every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., if you are interested in serving your community and making an impact on your peers please contact the Teen Center and ask how you can get involved.
