Mission |
| |
Primary mission of the Fort Meade Veterinary Services includes: food inspection/sanitation, medical support for Military Working Dogs and Secret Service Dogs, control of zoonatic diseases (diseases communicable from animal to man), and wartime training.
Secondary to all these missions is veterinary care for privately owned animals. Please understand that we cannot offer animal care on a daily basis due to the fact that our military veterinarian must attend to the primary mission responsibilities. However, every attempt will be make to offer basic veterinary care to privately owned animal on a scheduled basis. |

Facility Policies |
| |
- No children under the age of 12 will be allowed in the clinic for health and safety reasons during clinic days.
- All animals must be properly restrained. Pets must be on a leash or in a pet carrier until otherwise instructed by a Veterinary Treatment Facility staff member.
- If you fail to cancel your appointment with at least a 24-hour notice, you will be classified as a NO SHOW. After two “ No Show” appointments, all future appointments will be scheduled at the convenience and discretion of the Post Veterinarian.
- Animals that are maintained for the purpose of breeding, for profit, or animals that are sold for profit are not entitled to services at the clinic.

Animal Control Regulations |
| |
Animal owners in the Fort Meade Military Community fall under the FGGM Animal Control Regulation 40-42 and local laws regarding animal restraint, abuse, sanitation, numbers (no more than two four-legged pets), and other issues. Ignorance is not a valid defense for violations of laws and regulations. You must familiarize yourself with the Regulation 40-42 and local laws and abide by them.
In addition, all bite or scratch incidents with human involvement should be reported to the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center. The offending animal is subject to a physical examination and quarantine. The regulation may be reviewed at the Veterinary Treatment Facility. Violators of the regulation and all laws will be held responsible.

Fort Meade Regulations & Registration |

All animal residing on-post are required to register at the Fort Meade Veterinary Treatment Facility within 10 days of arrival.
Proof of rabies vaccination is required for registering animals over three months of age. Current rabies vaccination on all pets, your round is a MARYLAND STATE LAW. |

Fees & Services |
| |
Congress mandates a $2 service charge per visit. The funds are sent to the central finance office for the military. For all other fees you may pick up a price listing at the facility or call during office hours. The Veterinary Treatment Facility is not a full service clinic; there is no emergency are, treatment for on-going conditions, or surgery service. |

PLEASE NOTE |

- Veterinary technicians will perform all routine checkups and vaccinations. The veterinarian will see sick animals If you need or want an appointment with the veterinarian you must specify this when making your appointment.
- Contact the Veterinary Treatment Facility upon the receipt or offers if you are taking your pets overseas.
